It was part of the textile products used by farmers and shepherds who, together with personal linen, constituted the equipment that the groom had to possess at the time of marriage. The saddlebag was carried on the man’s shoulder, or placed on the back of a horse or donkey, and kept the necessities for travel.

In the Main Hall of Sa Mandra you can see an exhibition of different types of Sardinian saddlebags: sas bértulas for work (in addition to being used as travel bags, in the fields they served as containers for seeds for sowing) and festive sas bértulas, used for important occasions, which were made with finer yarns and finely decorated: they were given by the woman to her betrothed.

This room has a maximum capacity of 70 people

Outdoor Veranda

The outdoor veranda is the room that welcomes you when you enter Sa Mandra, with a large covered portico, which comes alive in the beautiful season, showing its true beauty. Summer is a beautiful season for many reasons: the sun, the sea and, not least, outdoor dinners. Sa Mandra celebrates summer with this quiet, evocative corner close to the garden. It is the perfect place to dine with friends, tasting the flavors of traditional Sardinian cuisine, and to chat about upcoming holidays under the stars.

The outdoor veranda has a maximum capacity of 40 people.

Weaving Room

This room at Sa Mandra is dedicated to Sardinian baskets, refined products of local craftsmanship.
In the traditional society of Sardinia, where bread was considered the food par excellence, as well as the center of a varied complex of values, symbols, rituals and myths, the plant fiber containers necessary for the work of transforming cereals into flour and bread-making were an indispensable component of the household equipment.
In Sardinia the manufacture of weaving was often domestic, aimed at self-consumption, and took place in family or neighborhood settings, often in moments of “rest and waiting”.

This room has a maximum capacity of 12 people.

Loom Room

This room at Sa Mandra is dedicated to the art of peasant weaving.

The loom room is the one that takes you back to the origins. Weaving has been part of the baggage of activities and knowledge of every Sardinian family for centuries: it is presumable that most houses had their own loom for the production of a series of objects useful for daily life and for bartering.
In Sardinia weaving is preserved, in its most traditional and meaningful forms, in about forty villages. Each village has its own tradition with particular weaving and decoration methods.
With its fresh colors, clues about the old use of the room and furnishings with traditional plates and trays, it will give you a peaceful lunch or dinner, immersed in the refined but rustic atmosphere of our farm.

This room has a maximum capacity of 12-15 people.

Su Pinnettu

The “Su Pinnettu” room is a tribute to the typical shepherds’ hut found in Barbagia, in central Sardinia. It consists of a circular stone base and a covering of branches on a frame of rather resistant tree branches.

This room has a maximum capacity of 35 people.
