EXPERIENCES

Educational farm for schools

Sa Mandra Farm is also a place of active pedagogy that connects children, young people, families, teachers and educators with each other and with the agro-pastoral world. The intent of our educational farms is to increase knowledge of a world, that of the farmer and shepherd, which appears blurred and distant to the eyes of “city dwellers”.

To provide an experience, milking, making bread, gathering herbs, so as not to forget our origins and create a healthy relationship with the territory, nature and the products that nourish us. The educational farms are suitable for school groups of all ages and for groups of children, families or adults.

The proposed pathways range from knowledge of animals to that of the biological cycle of plants, from raw material transformation processes to sensory experiences.

Introduction:

For millennia and until the 1950s in our territory, wild plants and herbs have characterized the life, medicine, cuisine, and economy of our Civilization. Plants and herbs were known and used in nutrition and in the care of body, mind and spirit. The techniques of collection, use and transformation, dosages, healing properties were part of popular knowledge. Their vital importance, in the poor agro-pastoral economy of the island, meant that they were respected, and with them the entire surrounding environment, giving rise to spontaneous models of sustainable use of natural resources.

  • Encourage the path of individual responsibility towards resource management.
