Nothing is Personal

NÀRAMI SA MANDRA, MAY 2022

Presentation of the book “Nothing is Personal” by Joan-Elies Adell.

The author will be in conversation with journalist Daniela Sari and Stefano Resmini, author of the preface.

Nàrami, the cultural program of Agriturismo Sa Mandra, continues its monthly events. On May 5th at 6:00 PM, Joan-Elies Adell will present his latest poetry collection “Nothing is Personal” published by Ensemble, Rome.

Joan-Elies Adell is a Catalan poet who lives in Alghero. Although Sardinia is his adopted homeland, he has not severed the ties that bind him to his native Catalonia and often travels the routes of space and time that separate the island from the Iberian Peninsula. This space and time permeate the lyrics that compose “Nothing is Personal.” The original composition in Catalan (Res no és personal) is from 2018, masterfully translated into Italian by Francesco Esposito.

“Nothing is Personal” is a narrative poem in octosyllables. The predominance of elements that have the appearance of a fragmentary biographical account gives it unity. The author, as he approaches fifty, looks back and asks himself a series of questions. An investigation that promises surprises, discoveries, consoling anxieties, ephemeral moments like the dreamy yet entirely real epilogue, which leads Joan-Elies Adell to realize he has “contemplated two sunsets simultaneously, from west and east.”

The presentation will include, in addition to the author, journalist Daniela Sari and Stefano Resmini, author of the preface. Another unmissable event in Sa Mandra’s cultural program.
